Agora and Real Estate Sales Associate Licensing

STATE OF FLORIDA QUALIFICATIONS FOR LICENSURE AS A REAL ESTATE SALES ASSOCIATE 

An applicant must be at least 18 years of age, be honest, truthful, of good character and have a high school diploma or equivalent. You need not be a Florida resident or a citizen of the U.S. The applicant must meet the qualifications of Chapter 475.17 Florida Statutes and submit their application, along with fingerprint card and appropriate fees to Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Real Estate.


ATTEND AGORA SCHOOL OF REAL ESTATE


The applicant must take a prescribed Sales Associate pre-licensing course of instruction consisting of 63 hours and pass an end-of-course examination with a score of 70% or higher. The exam consists of 100 questions covering real estate law, principles & practices, and real estate math.
 
The Sales Associate Pre-License course, titled FREC Course I:  Real Estate Principles, Practices & Law is offered by Agora School of Real Estate by live classroom instruction, distance learning, and coming soon on-line courses. The course consists of information about Florida real estate law, principles and practices of real estate, and real estate math. Although this material is quite comprehensive, the instructors have considerable  experience and knowledge enabling them  to present the material in a professional and challenging manner.
 
Classroom courses are designed to accommodate lecture, Q&A, and end of chapter questions and practice exams. The day courses include 7 consecutive sessions  while the evening sessions cover a 15 session calendar. The last 3 hour session consists of the end of course 100 question examination.

  • DAY Sessions begin at 8:15am and end at 5:45pm
  • EVENING Sessions begin at 6:00pm and end at 10:00pm
     
    Registration options:
  • By phone, using a major credit or debit card;
  • Mail a personal check (or money order) along with the registration form
  • Visit our office and register in person or

Textbooks may be obtained in advance by full payment or a deposit which is applied to the course tuition.
 
Classroom students should bring a highlighter, note paper, pencil, and a silent, battery operated, hand-held calculator to class.

APPLY FOR STATE EXAM

Application to take your state license examination, which must include your notarized signature, may be made before the pre-license class begins, during the time you are completing the course, or after the course has been satisfactorily completed. It is recommended that the applicant complete the application, fingerprint card, and  send those plus the fee to the DBPR as soon as possible. Approval from the State can take up to 60 days from receipt of a correctly completed application form.
Appropriate forms, are available at our office or by mail for our students.. You must submit a properly completed application to the Florida Division of Real Estate for processing.

After your application to take the state examination has been approved by the Florida Division of Real Estate, the Division will notify Assessment Systems Inc. (ASI), the state-contracted testing service that administers the examination. ASI in turn will notify you of your approval. You may then make a convenient appointment to sit for the examination. An examination fee will be collected by ASI at the time you schedule your examination. Information concerning testing procedures may be obtained from any of our training center personnel.

The Florida Real Estate Examination consists of 100 multiple choice questions; a grade of 75 is required to pass. The examination contains 45 questions on Florida Real Estate License Law, 45 questions on real estate principles and practices and 10 on real estate math. The Examination is computer based. The applicant is given plenty of time to familiarize him/herself with the process before the exam starts.


PASS THE STATE EXAMINATION THE FIRST TIME

AGORA School of Real Estate offers a Sales Associate’s Prep Course for those interested. The compact two day course is designed to teach the applicant how to apply the knowledge gained in the pre-license course to the state examination. The Prep Courses runs from 8:00am to 5:00pm over a two day period, usually the weekend where appropriate. This course may be taken as many times as desired over a 2 year period and is available to all applicants, even if they completed their pre-license course with another school.( Please refer to our course schedules for time and price.) Registration in advance for each class is required.


GET A HEADSTART ----  COMPLETE THE POST-LICENCING REQUIREMENT

To maintain your license you will need to successfully complete a 45 hour post license course within the first license period ( usually 18 to 24 months ). The course requires you pass a 100 question test with a grade of 70% or higher. There is no grace period beyond expiration of the license! It is strongly recommend you complete this course within 90 days or sooner of receiving your initial license. This course is intended to provide the licensee an opportunity to build on the principles and practices learned in the pre-licensing course and to present new hands on training in many important areas such as,  writing contracts, obtaining listings, qualifying potential buyers and avoiding legal pitfalls. Agora School of Real Estate offers this course in classroom, by distance learning, and soon on-line.

Subsequent license renewals (those following the initial license period) require the completion of 14 hours of continuing education, which can also be completed through live classroom attendance or distance learning; no examination is required.

OUT-OF-STATE SALES ASSOCIATES REQUESTING FLORIDA LICENSES
 

The state of Florida has entered into mutual recognition agreements with Alabama*, Arkansas*, Colorado*, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma* and Tennessee*. Sales  Associates that have been actively licensed in any of these states for at least 12 months within the previous 5 years may apply to take a 40 question examination on Florida license law. Passage of this examination with a score of 30 qualifies the applicant to receive a Florida broker’s license.
